Agami Island

Witness the World's Largest Agami Heron Colony

About the Tour

Agami Island offers one of the most spectacular birding experiences in Costa Rica. This full-day adventure takes you to witness one of the world's largest Agami Heron colonies, where over 1000 of these stunning birds nest and breed.

The Agami Heron (Agamia agami) is a secretive and beautiful bird, rarely seen in most of its range. However, on this special island, you'll have the opportunity to observe them up close in their natural habitat, along with many other wetland and coastal bird species.

This unique tour combines great birding opportunities on the drive to the island, close views of nesting Agami Herons, and view of other great species on the island. The journey itself is part of the adventure, as we'll bird on the way to the island and on the way back and explore the other species found at Agami Island.

The island's protected status ensures that the heron colony remains undisturbed, providing visitors with an authentic wildlife experience. This is a must-see destination for serious birders and nature photographers.
